Get Well Card

Hello!  Just created a get well card for the Jaded Blossom monthly challenge.  It is crafter's choice.  I chose to make a get well card.  I used my cricut and gypsy to create a card by merging the nurse's hat from the Dr. Checkup cartridge.  Here are a couple of pics of the card.

I used a stamp, from the Get Well Soon set of stamps, to stamp the flag on the hat.

The inside of the card is stamped with get well soon from the Simple Sayings 2 stamp set.  I made another version of this card with Get Well Soon stamped on the flag on the outside of the card.  They turned out a little smaller than I had hoped, but considering they were my first shaped card they both were very cute.

I don't know anyone that has had surgery, but I will be ready with a card when the need arises.  I am going to try to make up cards for different occasions and put them in my stash.  I will have them when I need them.  Maybe next year I will make Christmas cards.

I hope you enjoyed the card.

Christmas Crafts

The last two weeks we have been busy working on crafts for Christmas.  I made pictures of three of my children's classmates and the kids in the class used the pictures for ornaments.  Seen below.

I  used my "cricut" to crop the pictures into circles to place in the ornament die cut.  The ornament die cut was from the "Joys of the Season" cricut cartridge.  I let the kids run their cropped pictures through my Xyron sticker maker.  The had so much fun running their pics through the "magic machine."  I do this every year with my kids.  My two oldest are too old to do this but the little ones let me do this with this with their classes.

This past Saturday and Sunday, my children and I made dough ornaments.  We made the dough from 2 cups flour, 1 cup salt, and 1 cup of water.  We mixed this and then kneaded this in my stand mixer at least 10 minutes.  We then rolled it out to 1/4" thickness and then stamped.  Once they were cut with cookie cutters, we baked them for a minimum of 2 hours at 250 degrees.

The ornament above was stamped with a My Creative Time stamp set.  It was soooo cute.  My son, William, chose to make these for his first grade classmates.

We stamped the next few ornaments with a set of Inkadoo stamps that I had and the word or phrases were from some My Creative Time stamps that I have.  We used Tim Holtz inks and some cheap stamp inks we picked up at WalMart to do the stamping on these.

My son, Steven, gave his second grade classmates the ornaments with the gold snowflake (pictured above).  He said they looked like "ninja" stars.  I guess he thought these looked a little cool?  Not sure, but they were very cute.

Yesterday, I delivered Reindeer food to my daughter's preschool class.  She had her first school party and she was sooooo excited.  I used Jaded Blossom stamps for the poem and the cute reindeer.  My oldest daughter did the stamping and colored the reindeer for me.  She was soooo much help.  I couldn't have done it without her.  Below is a picture of the reindeer food bags that we made up.

Oh, one more thing my preschool daughter and I did for a preschool assignment.  Her teacher, Mrs. Amanda, gave us the green triangle (tree) to decorate.  Katherine and I cut out the white scroll piece out on my "cricut."  I modified the dimensions on my gypsy and we cut it out of glittery paper.  :)  That just made Katerine so happy.  We then used a set of dies from My Creative Time to cut the ornaments from beautiful paper.  I let her turn the crank on the Cuttlebug and piece them together.  She  then glued them on her tree.  It was tooo cute.

The picture above just shows more details of her decorated tree.  She was so proud to show this off at school.  Her teacher placed all of the triangles together to make ONE large tree and every little tree was decorated differently.  The larger tree was a patchwork just like the kids in her class.

Well,  I have finished my second post.  If it weren't for my oldest daughter pushing me to do this; I probably would have forgotten.  She made sure I took pictures of these projects.  We are always doing crafts and I never think to get pictures until it is too late.  Thank you, Ruby, for the gentle nudge.
